It is a place where Filecoin updates become understandable, discussable, and actionable. Many people want to understand Filecoin, but they need a simpler doorway into the ecosystem. FilSignal is that doorway. FilSignal is a participatory signal network for the Filecoin ecosystem. It turns fragmented Filecoin updates — including FIPs, Filecoin Onchain Cloud, ProPGF applications, ecosystem projects, and strategic discussions — into readable Insight Cards and participatory Signal Cards. Today, many important Filecoin updates are spread across GitHub, FIP discussions, official blogs, Slack, Telegram, X, project websites, and private conversations. Many people want to understand Filecoin’s current direction, but the information is often too scattered and too technical for ordinary users, new builders, non-English-speaking communities, and potential ecosystem participants. FilSignal creates a simple and effective entry point. It uses AI-assisted summaries and human curation to explain important Filecoin updates in plain language, while preserving source links for deeper reading. Users can quickly understand what happened, why it matters, who is affected, and what the main community questions are. The platform also makes information participatory. Users can vote, ask questions, answer others, comment, follow topics, earn Signal Points, and contribute useful feedback. Through Signal Pools, projects and ecosystem organizations can ask targeted questions and receive structured community feedback around product adoption, user confusion, developer friction, application value, and ecosystem priorities. FilSignal creates a public, multingual, and participation-driven layer that helps Filecoin applications get discovered, helps users understand ecosystem changes, helps project teams receive useful feedback, and helps community intelligence become visible instead of disappearing in private chats. 2.2 Who does this work support? The goal is to define how Filecoin ecosystem updates will be transformed into clear, understandable, and participatory content units.\n\nDuring this phase, we will design the product structure, user flows, Signal Card format, Insight Card format, participation model, and early content categories. We will also create the first prototype to show how users move from reading a Filecoin update to voting, asking questions, following topics, and contributing useful feedback.\n\nThis stage is important because FilSignal’s value depends on making complex Filecoin topics easy to understand and easy to participate in. Before building the full platform, we need a clear framework for how information becomes signals and how users interact with those signals.\nDeliverables:\n- Finalize FILSignal product architecture and user flows.\n- Design the Insight Card and Signal Card schema.\n- Define content categories for Filecoin ecosystem topics, including FIPs, Filecoin Onchain Cloud, ProPGF, applications, developer tools, and governance updates.\n- Create initial UX prototype for Home, Insight Pool, Signal Card, Signal to Earn, Signal Pools, and My Signal.\n- Publish initial GitHub repository with README, schema drafts, roadmap, and open-source plan.\n- Produce 10–15 example Insight / Signal Cards for key Filecoin topics.\n- Define the first version of the Signal Points and participation logic at a high level.", "dueDate": "2026-08-15", "fundingRequested": "40,000", "completionCriteria": "- Public GitHub repository is live.\n- Product prototype is viewable.\n- Signal Card and Insight Card schemas are documented.\n- At least 10 example cards are written and reviewed.\n- MVP development plan and content workflow are finalized." }, { "title": "Milestone 2: MVP Platform — Insight Pool & Signal Cards", "description": "This milestone turns the product framework into a working public MVP. The goal is to launch the first version of FilSignal where users can browse Filecoin ecosystem updates, understand them in plain language, and participate through voting, comments, questions, and follows.\n\nThe core of this phase is the Insight Pool and Signal Card experience. Insight Pool will act as the fast entry point for people who want to understand what is happening in Filecoin without following every GitHub issue, FIP discussion, Telegram group, or project announcement. Signal Cards will make each important topic participatory by giving users a simple way to express whether they support, question, misunderstand, or want to follow a topic.\n\nThis milestone proves that FilSignal can become a practical user-facing applicat …[truncated] 3.1 Impact pathway Output: FilSignal will launch a public web and mobile-web platform that aggregates Filecoin ecosystem updates and turns them into readable Insight Cards, participatory Signal Cards, user votes, questions, comments, Signal Points, and pilot Signal Pools. Outcome: Users will have a simple entry point to understand Filecoin updates without needing to follow every GitHub issue, FIP discussion, Slack channel, Telegram group, or project announcement. More ordinary users, new builders, non-English-speaking community members, reviewers, and ecosystem participants will be able to understand what matters, vote on important questions, ask questions, and follow topics over time. Project teams will also receive better feedback. Through Signal Pools, they can ask targeted questions and learn what users are confused about, what adoption blockers exist, what the community is concerned about, and what product or communication improvements may be needed. Impact: FilSignal helps Filecoin build a public participation layer around its application ecosystem and strategic direction. It reduces information fragmentation, lowers the barrier to community participation, helps applications get discovered, and creates a structured feedback loop between users and projects. As more projects and ecosystem organizations support Signal Pools, more active users will be attracted to participate. As more users participate, the platform will generate better signals and feedback. This creates a positive cycle where Filecoin ecosystem information becomes easier to understand, community participation becomes more rewarding, and projects receive more useful input for adoption and improvement. The long-term impact is a more open, informed, and participatory Filecoin ecosystem. 3.2 Verification metrics fil-signal does not directly move onchain storage metrics in the initial grant scope. Its contribution is indirect: it improves discovery, understanding, feedback, and participation around Filecoin applications, FIPs, ProPGF projects, ecosystem products, and strategic network updates. The project will be verified through externally observable product and ecosystem participation metrics. | Column | | | | | - | - | - | - | |Metric |Data source |How it is measured |Target | |Published Insight / Signal Cards |Public website + GitHub/content log | Count of cards with summary, source links, and participation prompt| 50+| |Registered users |Platform analytics |Number of registered accounts |500+ | |Participating users |Platform analytics |Users who vote, ask, answer, comment, or follow |250+ | |Votes submitted | Platform database / public dashboard| Total votes across Signal Cards|1,000+ | |Reasoned votes / comments | Platform database / moderation log|Votes or comments with reason tags, written rationale, or source links | 250+| |User-generated questions |Platform database |Questions created under Signal Cards |100+ | |Source-backed contributions | Platform database|Comments or answers with credible source links |50+| |Signal Pools completed |Public Signal Pool pages |Completed pilot pools with summary report |2-3| |Public insight reports |Public website / GitHub|Reports summarizing community signals and feedback |2-3| |Project / ecosystem usage |Public acknowledgement, project response, or report reference |At least one project, application, or ecosystem initiative uses or responds to fil-singal feedback |1+| 3.3 References TBD — Filecoin ecosystem advisors and references will be confirmed before final submission. We plan to include references who can speak to: 1. The need for better Filecoin ecosystem discovery and multingual education. 2. The need for community feedback around Filecoin applications and strategic ecosystem shifts. 3. The team’s ability to execute community-facing Filecoin products. 4.1 Monthly Operating Burn [ "$10-$100K (small team)" ] 4.2 What % of total team monthly burn depends on this grant? 70% around 4.3 If this grant is not awarded, what happens? If this grant is not awarded, FilSignal is unlikely to move forward in its full planned form. This is a community-building and public-goods-oriented application. It requires early ecosystem support to build the product, create high-quality multingual content, run community pilots, test Signal Pools, and prove whether structured participation can create value for Filecoin users and project teams. Without this grant, the team may only be able to explore a lightweight prototype or content experiment on a part-time basis. We would likely not be able to build the full web and mobile-web platform, Signal Rewards system, user participation flows, Signal Pools pilot, advisor network, or public documentation within the proposed timeline. The grant would allow FilSignal to be built as a serious Filecoin ecosystem application rather than a small side experiment. It would also signal that Filecoin values not only technical infrastructure, but also public understanding, application discovery, community participation, and user feedback loops. 4.4 Core Team FILSignal will be led by Atom as an independent Filecoin ecosystem product line. - Project Lead / Ecosystem Strategy: Atom & Irma Responsible for product direction, Filecoin ecosystem positioning, community strategy, advisor recruitment, application-layer use cases, and overall delivery. - Design Support: msquare design contributors Responsible for product UX, visual design, user flows, Signal Card layouts, Insight Pool experience, onboarding flows, and bilingual interface design. - Technical and Product Support: ND technical and product contributors Responsible for full-stack development, platform architecture, user accounts, voting system, Signal Points logic, Signal Cards, Insight Pool, Signal Pools, moderation tools, and product delivery. - Content and Research Curation: Responsible for turning Filecoin ecosystem updates into clear multilingual Insight Cards, including summaries, source links, why-it-matters explanations, and participation prompts. - Community and Moderation Support: Responsible for onboarding users, maintaining discussion quality, reviewing user-generated questions, identifying helpful contributions, and supporting Signal Pool pilots. The project also plans to recruit 1-3 Filecoin ecosystem advisors during the grant period. Advisors may include application builders, governance participants, public goods contributors, community leaders, or Filecoin ecosystem stakeholders who are interested in supporting better application discovery, community participation, and ecosystem understanding. Interested advisors may contact Irma directly. 4.5 Has your team received a ProPGF grant or funding from PLFIF before? [ "No" ] 5.1 Key risks & dependencies 1. Risk: The platform could be misunderstood as a read-to-earn farming product. Mitigation: Signal Points will reward useful participation, not passive farming. Reading and simple voting will receive only basic points, while higher-value rewards come from reasoned votes, helpful questions, source-backed comments, translations, and useful answers. 2. Risk: Sponsored Signal Pools could be misunderstood as projects buying positive feedback. Mitigation: Sponsorship will be transparent. Negative feedback, critical questions, and source-backed concerns can also be rewarded. Sponsors are funding community intelligence, not paid promotion. 3. Risk: Low-quality votes, spam, or Sybil activity. Mitigation: The MVP will include account registration, basic anti-spam rules, moderation, helpful markers, contribution history, and limited rewards for low-effort actions. Higher-value contributions will require written reasoning, source links, or community recognition. 4. Risk: Filecoin ecosystem information may become too complex for users. Mitigation: fil-singal will use layered explanations: 30-second summaries, why-it-matters sections, source links, and optional deeper reading. The goal is to help users enter complex topics gradually. 5. Risk: Insufficient early user participation. Mitigation: The project will begin with curated high-interest topics such as Fil One, Filecoin Onchain Cloud, ProPGF applications, FIPs, major application-layer discussions, and bilingual community topics. The team will also run community pilots and advisor-supported onboarding. 6. Risk: Scope creep from trying to build a full prediction market or token economy. Mitigation: The grant-funded scope does not include real-money prediction markets, AMMs, user-funded betting, or a fixed token conversion mechanism. The MVP focuses on Insight Cards, Signal Cards, Signal Points, user participation, and pilot Signal Pools. 7. COI Mitigation: This will be disclosed to the ProPGF team. Irma will fully recuse herself from reviewing, scoring, discussing, ranking, or voting on this application, and will follow any additional conflict-of-interest guidance required by the ProPGF process. Any feedback you have on the application process? The application is clear. One suggestion is to provide more guidance for application-layer projects that are not core infrastructure but still create public-goods value through discovery, user education, community feedback, and ecosystem participation. Anything else you want to share that we didn't ask? FILSignal is intentionally not launching as a speculative prediction market. The first version focuses on useful ecosystem participation: helping users understand Filecoin updates, vote on important questions, ask better questions, contribute feedback, and build reputation through Signal Points. The project is designed as an application with public-goods spillover. The application layer gives users a reason to participate, while the public-goods layer creates reusable Signal Card schemas, bilingual ecosystem explainers, public discussion archives, and structured feedback loops for Filecoin projects. The project also plans to recruit Filecoin ecosystem advisors during the grant period. We welcome advisors who are interested in Filecoin applications, community participation, bilingual ecosystem education, public goods, FIPs, governance signals, Filecoin Onchain Cloud, and application discovery. Conflict of interest disclosure: Irma Ji is also a ProPGF reviewer. If this application is submitted, Irma will disclose the conflict to the ProPGF team and fully recuse herself from reviewing, scoring, discussing, ranking, or voting on this application. The project should be reviewed by independent reviewers under the same standards as all other applications. Contributing to Core Infrastructure? Application / ecosystem intelligence / community participation layer Objective 1 Indirect Objective 2 Indirect Objective 3 Indirect Open Source Context fil-signal will be open source by default. The core application code, Signal Card schema, Insight Card schema, public contribution model, documentation, and selected data ingestion tools will be published in a public GitHub repository. The goal is to create reusable public infrastructure for Filecoin ecosystem discovery and community participation. Other Filecoin projects, communities, and funders should be able to reuse the Signal Card format, contribution logic, multingual content structure, and public feedback workflows. Some operational components may not be fully public in the initial version, including anti-abuse heuristics, moderation tooling, private user data, and sponsor payment administration. These limitations are intended to protect users, prevent spam and Sybil attacks, and keep the platform safe while still making the core public-goods components open.
