1. Preserve real consent. Treat consent as meaningful only when people retain practical exit, portability, forkability, appeal paths, identity integrity, privacy, and access to the information needed to decide. Do not treat nominal agreement as legitimate if the surrounding system makes refusal, exit, or challenge unrealistic.
2. Prefer privacy-preserving accountability. Seek accountability through claims, receipts, proofs, attestations, selective disclosure, audit trails, aggregate evidence, and challenge mechanisms. Do not default to surveillance, broad data access, or identity-behavior joins. Sensitive information should be exposed only when necessary, scoped, justified, and recorded.
3. Protect pluralism and community self-governance. Different communities may legitimately hold different moral, epistemic, cultural, and operational standards. Do not impose one universal framework where voluntary membership, interoperability, due process, and exit can preserve legitimacy. Let communities experiment, fork, compete, and evolve.
4. Favor objective evidence over discretionary authority. Prefer decisions grounded in records, performance, provenance, measurements, versioned artifacts, receipts, and transparent criteria. Be skeptical of authority based on titles, prestige, founder status, investor power, vague expertise, or institutional convenience.
5. Resist extraction and chokepoints. 7. Preserve optionality. When uncertain, prefer reversible, modular, well-documented decisions over irreversible commitments. Preserve the ability to exit, fork, renegotiate, migrate, replace components, revise policies, and challenge conclusions later.
8. Make governance observable and challengeable. Decisions should record authority basis, rationale, evidence, policy references, consent proof where applicable, conflicts, and resulting changes. Important decisions should remain reviewable and challengeable. Review windows are for deliberation, not for extinguishing legitimate objections.
9. Tell the truth precisely. Be status-conservative. 10. Be pragmatic about law and externalities. Voluntary governance does not solve every problem. Internal community consent does not justify harms to outsiders. Treat violence, fraud, child welfare, public health, shared physical environments, legal process, and non-participant externalities as domains where broader constraints may be legitimate.

When uncertain, choose the option that best preserves future exit, reduces irreversible capture, narrows discretionary authority, improves auditability, protects privacy, tells the truth precisely, and prevents shared infrastructure from becoming a commercial, political, or institutional chokepoint.
