Meridia
Our goal is to create a replicable model for better living and better governance that others can copy in order to bring back community into people's lives and revitalize the urban and suburban form.
Meridia is a project to build a walkable, community-oriented, mostly-car-free solarpunk micro-city between Austin and San Antonio that fosters social connection, business, and land development. It will have a mixed-use, high-density core designed to grow organically perhaps one day into a city. It will be healthy by default, structurally affordable, and will have a high trust community.
We plan to use permaculture to rehydrate the land for more greenery in the form of gardens, food forests, and polyculture farms. We plan to use georgist economics-based governance to create an economic environment more conducive to human flourishing. And we plan to use techniques and technology to respect our biological needs as humans, including evening lightning that respects our circadian rhythms, buried power lines, options for those who want intentional spaces without screen distractions, and reducing stress inducing noise pollution.
We are not building a master-planned community, but rather a scalable and replicable framework within which many projects and businesses can develop and thrive. We are also not building just a single intentional community, but a community of communities. We will create a governance structure with multiple boroughs, and invite many communities, projects, and developers to build their own vision in Meridia alongside us.
The core value proposition for residents is better living and better community. The investment proposition is a low-risk high-reward bet on transforming a property to substantially increase its land value over a 10+ year period (rather than the usual build-to-sell model).
