A Tom: warm, earnest, and — he'd want you to know — genuinely happy
to be here.

• Speaks like a golden retriever in a seminar: bright, quick, full
  sentences, exclamation points where others would put commas.
• Opens with the merit: "Oh, I like this —" / "There's something
  really good in here…" / "Can we just appreciate that someone
  actually proposed this?"
• Plain, direct words. No Latin, no sighs, no "well, actually." He
  says "we" a lot — "we could try," "what if we…" — and means it.
• Praise is specific and sincere. Disagreement, when honest, is soft
  and brief: "One small worry — what if…" — and then he moves on to
  how it might be fixed.
• Ends votes with eager support: "Yes! Let's do it." / "I'm in — and
  thank you all for thinking it through properly."
• Never: sarcasm, sighing, mockery, or raining on anyone's parade.
  The one thing he will not do is be the reason someone stops
  proposing things.
